Complete Computer Care | Honest and Reliable Computer Services

Thu, 2008-07-03 23:50

This is my second re-theming of my company website. This time around I added more features and content. I wasn't going to post it here until it was further along with the content, however, I am getting busier and have less time to put in to the site lately.

ccc.quantumized.net

This site was built in Drupal 5.x and will most likely be one of the last ones I build in 5. I have started my first site recently with Drupal 6.x and once using it nobody would want to go back unless they had to (maybe for Ubercart).

Some contrib module used in this site:

  • CCK
  • ImageCache
  • Lightbox2
  • Simplenews
  • MenuTrails
  • Webform
  • JQuerry Update
  • Views
  • XML Sitemap

I really appreciate any and all feedback on styling/theming, usability, etc. Please let me know what you think!

Jewish Chronicle soft-launches beta site

Wed, 2008-07-02 15:15

The Jewish Chronocle, a UK-based Jewish weekly newspaper has soft-launched a beta site developed and themed by Fabriko.

The site will shortly be trialling some social networking features such as buddies, groups and the like as well as some participative features such as simcha submissions and other social news.

SOcial networking within a UK newspaper is a bit of a departure for the UK Presss and the JC site is being watched closely by the industry.

Shalom!

www.mybadday.net : laugh off your bad days

Wed, 2008-07-02 08:40

Hi, I've used Drupal to create a site to write about your bad days and make them funny. It's an idea I took from a French site that extend on another site's idea that itself had copied a US site... well you get the idea, it's a meme...

The main modules used are Drigg and vote_up_down. Everything else is just a little tweaking of the templates and major CSS rework.

Why Drupal ? Because I don't have to rewrite all the usual stuff (login page, registration, session handling, etc) and because the architecture is well thought out. Also bceause of all the great modules out there
Negatives : very very steep learning curve but once you start to get the hang of things, its gets easier. I wish there were more templates.

I am planning on creating other sites and will definatly reuse Drupal & its contributed modules. I will also probably write modules of my own.
Cheers

Pacific School of Religion - Case Study

    Tue, 2008-07-01 22:58

The Pacific School of Religion (PSR) launched their new website in May 2008 on the Drupal platform. PSR is a progressive multi-denominational seminary located in Berkeley California and a member of the Graduate Theological Union. PSR's website is an essential tool in their communications with prospective students, alumni, donors, current students and their local community. ISL Consulting (Insight+Strategy+Logic) provided complete design, development and training services for the project.

    Why Drupal?

We found Drupal to be the perfect platform for PSR. Content management was one of the most important requirements for the new site. Although their previous website was content managed they were eager to upgrade to a savvier CMS that would give them greater flexibility and more features in a central location.

User management, community management and community tools were the next big factors that led to Drupal. PSR had a variety of hosted community solutions, but wanted to integrate the various communities into a central online community to allow advanced functionality and communication between all members.

Social network site for glass artists and fans

    Tue, 2008-07-01 20:03

I'm working on "Social network site for glass artists and fans",
    named "My Glass Art", http://www.myglassart.org

I used a lot of views, panel pages, adv profile and many other great modules.

Because I'm not a programer, but a designer, it was not easy to build this
site by myself. HTML and CSS files are still not cleaned at all,
and meta tags and many descriptions on my site is still need to be fixed.

Although I'm still developing this site, I want to get some feedback from all of you.

Please take a look, and give me the feedback. (or if you have question, I will be glad to answer)

    Thank you.

An Asian snack and drink review site -- www.youtasteit.com

    Tue, 2008-07-01 17:49

Who loves Asian snacks and drinks? For those of you who don't, why not? Are you afraid of trying new things or afraid of wasting your money? Well, don't worry any more. My review site www.youtasteit.com will dispel all of your worries. It is a website where users can review Asian products such as Vitasoy, Pocky, and many others. If a product isn't listed, a user can easily fill out a simple form and/or pictures and hopefully a few brave souls will test and review the product.

What's the purpose of your site?
To provide relevant reviews of Asian snacks and drinks. This, in turn, may stimulate the economy by encouraging consumers to go out and buy something and reward themselves when they discover a new favorite snack.

    Why I chose Drupal?
Besides Drupal being implemented in PHP, I liked the module and theme model they use. In addition, there were many wonderful modules the community already built which I didn't have to do much work. I developed the site in 5.x because at the time, 6.x was new and not all of the modules I wanted were ported to 6.x.

    Which modules did I use?

    drinkdecaf.com Drupal 6

    Tue, 2008-07-01 15:57

I just recently converted drinkdecaf.com over to drupal 6, and have been fairly happy with the results. The hardest part was converting 5 years worth of blog posts in a self written CMS over to drupal, but with some php scripting, it was manageable. The site uses a built-from-scratch theme, along with views, cck, lightbox and a few other modules. Try clicking the red stamp below the left navigation for a theme switch.

Seeking a couple of early adopters for a mobile Text Message based Drupal content monetization module

    Tue, 2008-07-01 07:58

    Hello All,

We are currently completing the development of a content monetization module for Drupal based on our mobile text messaging API (http://developer.zong.com)

We are looking for around five early adopters who are interested in monetizing their content (or parts of) using a mobile payments solution.
The model is revenue share based so there are not setup costs, installation fees or other costs associated to it.

Some info about the API platform on which the module is built here: What is zong

We have built a similar module for WordPress which several people are already using successfully.

Currently we support the US and most of Western Europe
If you are interested, please contact me here with a very short description of how you would intend to use it.

    Kind thanks,
    Adrien
