WSL-2 = Linux on Windows 10

I am a long time Linux user but have gotten pretty used to Windows 10 on my new laptop. I bought it for video editing and use the windows version of DaVinci Resolve. There is a linux version but I found it hard to deal with and not optimized for Ubuntu.
I had done “dual boot” computers which worked OK so that was an option but I started looking into Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) and found it does everything I need. I really just want the bash shell and the ability to install all of the development tools and server stuff from linux.
It is sort of a challenge to get it going … you need the right version of Windows 10 … not the “plain” Home edition so I had to join the Windows Insider Program to get “early release versions of windows 10. After lots of reboots I was able to follow the instructions and get basically the server edition of Ubuntu 20.04 installed and have been very happy with it.
